If your Australian driver’s licence has expired you will not be able to get an international one without renewing your licence first. You will need to renew your Australian licence via your state’s government licence provider.

An international licence is more accurately called a “international permit” which means you need to have your original licence along side your international driver’s permit for it to be valid.
