Does subletting reduce my rights as a tenant?

Your rights as a sub-letter are not reduced just because you are not on the lease. You will not legally be able to be evicted by the landlord as your sub-lease agreement is not with them.

If you are eligible, you should still be able to claim housing benefits as a sub-letter.
